What do you want to be when you grow up? What will be your college major? What motivates you?

Whether you know the answers to these questions, sort of know, or have absolutely no idea, this workshop is for you! Did you know that exploring possible careers begins with exploring your own personality, interests and values? This three-hour, interactive workshop will include:

  • Myers-Briggs Type Indicator (MBTI) personality assessment – Understanding your unique personality type will help in finding work activities, work environments and jobs that are a strong fit and lead to higher career satisfaction. The MBTI is reliable and valid, and is used by the nation’s top colleges and universities and by institutions worldwide as the foundational tool for student and alumni career development (www.cpp.com).

  • Strong Interest Inventory – Through identification of your top interest areas, you will learn what types of jobs and work environments are most motivating and interesting to you. The Strong is one of the world’s most widely respected and frequently used career planning tools. It helps students uncover their career interests and identify which areas of study are appropriate or required for a particular field.

  • Work values assessment – Values are qualities considered to be the most important guiding principles that help set priorities in your career and life. They are highly personal and define what is purposeful and meaningful to you. Though values may change in response to life circumstances, they are generally thought to be enduring and provide a compass for setting goals and making decisions.

At the end of this workshop, students should have a strong understanding of their personality type, career interests and work values, and be able to evaluate career possibilities based on this self-knowledge. They will walk away with official MBTI and Strong reports, a list of career exploration resources, and sample career plans. This information will be beneficial when exploring best fit colleges and majors.

Workshop facilitator is a qualified MBTI and Strong practitioner with 10+ years of experience working with these assessments with both high school and college students in the career development process.
